TGIFF
It’s March 3rd. Our Fearless Leader is traveling and impressing the world with his giant brain again.
One of the clips I heard this morning was of bush telling his Indian audience that the “Cold War is behind us” and that it’s time for the US and India to “become strategic partners.” Cold War? India? I had no idea India was a part of that. Stupid me. Here I thought it was the USSR and other Eastern Bloc countries.
And how is it that all of a sudden he’s talking about how we’re going to catch Bin Laden? Now there’s a novel idea. Hey, I have a better idea. How ‘bout we all hop in the time machine for a do-over. Committing money, resources and troops to find Bin Laden and cripple Al Qaeda sounds like something we might want to do first next time around. They're the ones who attacked us after all.

Memory Du Jour:
Ocho Rios, Jamaica. The Girl had just been born. Our ship had pulled in for a much-deserved, two-day break. I bought cheap cigars for my buddies. I had a big, fat Havana cigar that my mom had brought back for me from her last teaching gig in Beijing.
We spent the day at the foot of Dunns River Falls drinking Appleton Rum straight out of the bottle, smoking cee-gars, and watching the neverending line of fabulous (and I mean fabulous!), skimpily clad hardbodies start their ascent of the falls.
This is where we drank & smoked
at the picnic tables we dragged over
I smoked half of my Havana. I still have the other half, which I’m saving for The Girl’s wedding. It may not be as good as the first half, but I’m a sentimental kinda guy and I like the idea of a toast and a ceremonial lighting of the thing to recognize the milestone. Hopefully that won't happen for a while.

Quote of the Day:
"And I want those who are questioning it to step up and explain why all of a sudden a Middle Eastern company is held to a different standard than a Great British company." —George W. Bush, defending a plan to allow a company controlled by the United Arab Emirates to manage ports in the United States, aboard Air Force One, Feb. 21, 2006

ooooh pretty! Now I want to go to Jamaica!
You sap you!!! :)
That was one of the ports of of call on my honeymoon. It is beautiful!!! I want to go back.
Did I say thanks for taking the word ver. down? If not, thank you!!!
That is a wonderful place! I wanna go, will have to try to talk RLB into that place. Have a happy Friday, CJ!!
Wow! You mean we should have went after the people that supposedly attacked us (Bin Laden) first, THEN went and spent billions of dollars and lost thousands of lives over "Operation Iraqi Liberation" OIL. What a concept.
AWWWWWWWWWWWW...who knew you had a sentimental side with the whole cigar thing?
Great memory du jour. It's nice to have a place that holds special memories like that. Jamaica will always be special to you.
Our oldest daughter was conceived (we're pretty sure) on a certain beach in Hawaii. We returned there a few years ago and commemorated the spot. I'd like to be able to say that my wife and I re-enacted the event at that moment ... but we were younger and more daring back when the actual event took place. This time we just held each other for a while, then walked along the shoreline :)
WebMiz: Go, go! I think that was one of the places I suggested to you when you were contemplating a vacation spot on your blog. Of course, I may have just been thinking about suggesting it. Awesome place though. Port Antonio is very nice too...smaller and quieter. Stay away from the big places.
R: Dontcha just love me? I’ve always been kinda sappy, but shhh....don’t tell anyone. Did you go to the Ocho Rios Jerk Center? It’s under the trees off the side of the main drag. Little BBQ joint for jerk chicken, fish, trout. If I could get away with it, I’d say let’s pack our bags and go!
Whistler: It’s an awesome place to visit. I loved it. Port Antonio is awesome too. Montego Bay wasn’t bad either.
Y: Yeah, ain’t that a novel concept? Going after the people that attacked us with everything we’ve got. Doing what Shrub is doing is akin to the US attacking Italy after the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
Jules: See, I am a good imaginary boyfriend!
StringMan: Cool memory. I think we were all younger and more daring once upon a time. It’s nice to look back though.
Hey, it is nice not having word verification.
