Blow Me, Ike

Ike will be in town Saturday evening/Sunday morning. Should be fun. Right now they’re forecasting 30-60mph winds. Went out and bought an ice chest, flash lights, and a Coleman lantern for the occasion. Supposedly we’re going to be on the nasty side of the storm.

Butter My Fly
There's a massive migration of some small variety of butterfly. My car is covered with guts and wing parts. It'll need a cleaning here after they all get blasted by Ike. Shelley's convinced their monarchss; I think they're way to small to be monarchs. And they're not real purty neither.

The little fuckers are pretty thick today. There are zillions of them. The drive home today reminded me of one unfortunate trip down I-10 somewhere between Mobile and Beaumont. Love bugs. They were everywhere. My wipers and fluid were no match for 'em. I had to stop every few miles and use an ice scraper to clear my windshield, then use the wipers and fluid. It was a long drive!

"There's no question this is a major human disaster that requires a strong response from the Chinese government, which is what they're providing, but it also responds a compassionate response from nations to whom—that have got the blessings, good blessings of life, and that's us." — George W. Bush Discussing relief efforts after a Chinese earthquake, Washington, D.C., June 6, 2008

Watch...IKE will fizzle out. All this death and mayhem will be for naught. The big news of the day? A cat got stranded in IKE's path....Just watch...that is how its gonna happen.

If you think that's bad you should see the bugs in West Virginia. Coming down the highway that make an audible thump when you hit them with the car.

My zip code falls under voluntary, not mandatory evacuation so I'm going to wait Ike out. Last time my zip called for extreeme flooding and got only a few puddles so I'm in no hurry to pack up again.
The wind is really starting to kick up though.

You two stay dry, stay safe and stay in touch.

12 Sep - Happy birthday, Sunshine. I hope you have a nice day. I'll be around to give you a hard time and a good time! I'll take you out to dinner tonight to celebrate your birth and we can have a drink to remember my Dad's.

Woozie: A black man in WV? I still can’t believe you survived that trip!

Mellow Yellow: Good luck, and let us know how things go!

Shelley: Thank you dear. I look forward to din din tonight!
