Wendesday

Saturday I went to Austin with Shelley to visit her daughter. It was a good day. We went to the Old Pecan St. Festival on Sixth St. in Austin, and ate lunch at Casino El Camino. Talk about big fucking hamburgers. They were featured on the Food Network a while back, which is why we went. It was worth it.

We roamed around 6th street until we overheated, then we went to cool off and shop at Spec’s (giant) liquor store. We bought ourselves some goodies, and bought Shelley’s daughter a few things. After an hour of roaming up and down the liquor, food and miscellany aisles, we checked out. $200+ later we were in the car and on our way to The Hideout for happy hour.

I met Jerry at The Hideout and we it off immediately. He was awesome - so awesome that I’ve seen him a couple of times since coming back to San Antonio. It’s was a whirlwind of a coupling and I think it’s going to be a long-term physical relationship. Jerry, by the way, is Sailor Jerry – a new Rum Shelley’s daughter turned me onto. It’s 92 proof and smooth as silk. From the first sip, I ranked it in the top four of my favorite rums. I haven’t decided which I like best, so here they are, in order of silky-smoothness:

Sailor Jerry Navy Rum
(US Virgin Islands)
Meyers’s (Jamaican)
Brugal (Dominican)
Appleton Estates

So flush your Bacardí, and get yourself a bottle of some real rum. And don’t mix it with coke, drink it the way it straight, the way it’s supposed to be drunk.

Quote of the Day

"There's no question this is a major human disaster that requires a strong response from the Chinese government, which is what they're providing, but it also responds a compassionate response from nations to whom—that have got the blessings, good blessings of life, and that's us." — George W. Bush Discussing relief efforts after a Chinese earthquake, Washington, D.C., June 6, 2008

Ah, yes...going gay for Jerry. I see you have taken a good liking to him. Any reason to be jealous? You said he should go down straight...I can do that! Miss you.

You know, any excuse to drink is good enough for me....

You really had me worried about Jerry there. I totally halted reading and went back to see if maybe it was a Jerri or Gerry.

The wtf clouds totally consumed me.

Until I found my place reading again and realized it be the rum.

Shelley: I’ll believe that when I see it, er, feel it, umm…anyway! And now a poem:

You call me Gay, I am – and very
But only for my Sailor Jerry
Rum that is

FlyinFox: Amen brotha!

Margie: I hate WTF clouds!

Mello: It is delish. My mom used to call it “Mother’s Milk.” She used to drink it straight…or with some milk, which was oddly yummy. It was a great day, by the way. Miss you and hope you’re recovered from Ike. Did you hear Houston is being renamed? They’re gonna call it Tina, because it got bitch-slapped by Ike ;-) Get it? Like Tina Turner. Hardy har har har!
