Jalapeño is not prounounced "halapeenio"
It's pronounced "hahlahpehnio"
Habanero is not pronounced "hahbahniero"
It's pronounced "ahbahnehro"
People learned out to prounounce words like "dog," "cat," and "fish." I'm unclear how these two words, now pretty prevalent in Amurca, are so fucking hard to learn.
