9/24 SATURDAY
I apologize to all of you who have been worrying and losing sleep wondering how my pinky finger has been faring. I’m happy to report that it’s doing much better.
When I changed the bandage on Mr. Pinky yesterday morning, the non-stick bandage stuck a little. I soaked it in a water/peroxide mix and ran hot water over it, but there was a small part of the gauze that wouldn’t come loose. So...It bled when it came off. Not nearly as much as Friday afternoon, but it was still messy and a royal pain to re-dress with one hand. This time I took my son’s advice and put a little Vaseline on the bandage so it really wouldn’t stick. After about 15 or 20 minutes I had it bandaged and wrapped with enough gauze so the blood wouldn’t drip all over the place.
Last night when I removed the bandage and gauze nothing stuck, and there was no bleeding. Woo hoo! I only had to put a band-aid on it this time (with Vaseline, of course). It’s still sore, but no bleeding and no bulky bandages.
I’m interested to know what the scar’s going to look like. I mean, I’ve never had a crater in my skin before.

Had a decent day off yesterday. Not good; not great; just decent. It wasn’t really much of a day off. I define a day off as a day of doing only those things I want to do, as opposed to doing things I need or have to do. So yesterday wasn’t so much a day off as a day I didn’t have to go to work.
I got my windows re-tinted yesterday. They were very accommodating and didn’t make me feel like I was putting them out by expecting a good job for the money I paid. They happily took the car in and replaced the tint on all the windows with no questions and no trying to weasel out of accountability. I even got a free soda out of the deal.
After the windows, I came back and cleaned the house. It gets kinda cluttered during the week because no one, including me, feels much like having housecleaning on the schedule when we’re busy enough already. I threw on a pot of borracho beans as well. They came out great.
After I got my busy work done, I plopped down on the couch to watch a little television and maybe take a little catnap. Right as I was dozing off, the phone rang. It was The Warden, who had just got off work. She wanted to go grab an early dinner at Chris Madrid's. This is, by far, the best burger joint in San Antonio.
The Warden would pick The Boy up from school, and I’d pick up The Girl. I got to The Girl’s school and, surprisingly, she wasn’t hangin’ in the cafeteria as usual. I asked the tending teacher if she knew where she was. She didn’t. To make a long story short, I spent about 25 minutes walking around the school trying to find her. She was in detention for yapping in class. Ya know, somehow, after-school detention doesn’t seem like an effective disciplinary tool for an 8th grader. I’d make them serve their detention during recess. That’s when they have all their fun!
The burgers were good and the evening was quiet; just what the doctor ordered. We watched some freaky movie called “I Heart Huckabee’s.” It had it’s funny moments, but it's nothing I'd recommend or buy.

This morning I’ll be taking The Girl to her basketball practice. It’s an hour and 15 minutes long. After that, I think I’ll take her out to lunch and maybe to buy a little something.

I am glad to hear the finger will not need to be amputated. This is a good thing, even though you can type 70 WPM without it. Now that you cannot use it, is there anything you have noticed that it is more difficult to do without it? By the way, How is the smoking going?
