10/1 SATURDAY
I got up way too early today. I was up, for no reason in particular, at about 3:15am, and couldn’t go back to sleep. It’s now 6:20am, I’m finishing my first cup of coffee, and I have a damned sore throat. Now doesn’t that beat all? I haven’t had a sore throat for a few years. Hopefully it’ll go as quickly as it came.
Unfortunately, I'm not feeling particularly creative this morning, nor do I have anything necessarily intersting to write about, but I figured I'd post anyway. I do have some more pics to post.

It was a relatively uneventful night last night. The Warden met her sister and a couple of girlfriends after work for a couple of drinks. I hung out with the kiddos. Had a nice dinner full of our usual laughs, goofiness and fun. The Girl went out with a neighbor friend to try to sell some of her school candies.
I hooked up the scanner to my laptop and scanned a bunch of pictures. The Boy was getting a good laugh out of some of the pictures from the 70s. I scanned select pictures, which I intend to post here every so often.
After the scanning, The Boy and I watched the Red Sox play the evil Yankees. The Girl got back home around 6:45pm, counted her money and went into the other room to watch something other than baseball.
The Warden got home around 9:00pm and went night-night. She’s taking her mom shopping this morning.
No big plans today. I may go get some stuff to refinish one of our coffee tables. I haven’t done anything like that for a while. Then again, I may head to the gun shop to buy a new pistola. Oh come on, I’m in Texas!

The Warden has been working on a research paper for school, and I have developed a few bitches with the way the professor operates. First of all, he gives the students no examples and little instruction on writing. He simply tells them what their task is and points them to the APA guide. Now, if this were a 2nd year research writing course, you'd expect the students to have a level of knowledge sufficient to complete Mr. Professor's point and quack assigning of work. But it isn't a 2nd year course; it's a first year course.
Anyway...
Oh, and another beef I have is the order in which he assigns tasks.
1. Assigns students a research paper to write (subject of their choosing), due a ways down the road.
2. Two weeks later he tells them to write a research proposal on the paper they've already started. Huh? You'd think that the research proposal would come before the paper.
3. A couple of weeks later the students are told to write a manuscript review of literature on the research paper which they haven't even completed yet! WTF? And the manuscript review is due before the research paper.
Is this guy stark raving freakin' stupid, or am I missing something?

Now for some pictures.
Somewhere in the Caribbean, 1983
That's me on the left with a monster wahoo.
My buddy from Mississippi is on the right
with an intentionally inappropriate "check out
this big, bad-ass fish" look on his face.
Carlos & Darla 1980
This one was taken at Nancy's sister Mary's wedding
reception. Darla had just spilled some vile punch
on herself (she always was klutzy). Although I got
a good laugh at Darla's expense in this picture,
she got the last laugh after I had a little heart-to-heart
encounter with the contents of my stomach across
the street from the house, in front of Dave Morgan's
VW Bug. That punch was spiked heavily and
deadly!
Somewhere in the Caribbean Sea, 1983
This is a picture of me and my buddy from
Mississippi getting ready to board a boat
suspected of smuggling weed into the US.
We were both packing .45s. I had the
riot shotgun and he had the M-16.
