Up Yours Uncle Sam

Up Yours Uncle Sam.

Did you know that taxes on capital gains above $9,750 are around 35%? I just found out this morning. That is nothing short of criminal.

The only thing that gives me solace is imagining that my contribution will be applied toward sending Mark Foley to the State Pen, to spend the rest of his living days with his bare ass in the air.

The Warden and I went by the storage unit today to sort through some of Mom’s old stuff. It’s still kinda hard to do, but I got through it and we made some progress in organizing in our continued effort to get ready to move next year.

I almost threw this away. It was a small piece of gift paper she liked enough to keep. It was to her and Cleo, her cat. Looks like her brother’s writing. Wish I hadn’t crumbled it.

Here's Cleo (click to enlarge)
She's lived with us since December of 2004.

I’m headed up north next month. How far north? Let’s just say that the average high temperature in November is 27 degrees; and the average low is 15. Any guesses? I’ll be there for three days for work. I hope to be blogging from up there and posting pictures.

I kinda like this vid:

Quote of the Day:
"The goals of this country is to enhance prosperity and peace." —George W. Bush Speaking at the White House Conference on Global Literacy, New York, Sept. 18, 2006

As an accountant I know of ways to wash your capitol gains in a way that is less painful. =O) Speak to one or an investment broker (free usually) and they'll show you how to roll it around and make it more colorful.

But even still - ugh!

Thanks Margie. I now know what they mean by paying for your ignorance. I wish I would've know that before.

Fool me once... ;-)

The only thing the family CPA out West told me after my mom passed away was that I wouldn't have to worry about estate taxes.

He was right about that, but I still sent my lawyer a big ol' "you gotta be shittin' me" email when she told me I needed to send her a check.

No said...'re going to the North Pole?

27 degrees in November? damn, you must be going even further north than the shithole I live in!

Peace coming from George Bush... Give me a break, what a fuck he is.
We're pretty far north, & it doesn't get that cold here next month, but then again we're on the West coast. For it to be that cold, I'm going to guess your going east also.
