FRIDAY BWI

QUIET TIME
So I’m sitting here on a Friday night all by my lonesome. The Warden and The Girl are with mother-in-law, and the Boy went out to a movie with friends. I loves me some quiet time.

I cooked carnitas rojas (fried pork pieces with red chile sauce) for me and The Boy before he split. See pics here. I didn’t photograph the finished plate because, well, that would’ve been just plain mean to you fuckers in locales where there ain’t adequate beaner food to satisfy even the Taco Bell Chihuahua’s unrefined palate. Speaking of beaner food, here are a few pics of some enchiladas, rice, and refried beans I made from scratch last Sunday. Jealous? I know you are.

I'm endulging myself in a little brown wine (whisky) and old music as I type.

BABEL
Any of you see the movie Babel? I did and I liked it a great deal. I tend to appreciate movies that don’t follow cookie-cutter, lame-ass, Hollywood formulas. Anyway, there was a scene in the movie in which a Japanese girl took a mind-altering substance, went to a techno club, and took a little trip. The cinematography, coupled with the sound track took me somewhere long ago and far away. Here’s a short snip of the music that was playing. Y and Nay should be able to tell exactly where I went after they listen to it.

MEMORY DU JOUR
In sixth grade I held the all time world record for swats at my school. During the course of the year I received a total of 21 swats from a variety of teachers, who doled out their justice with a variety of different paddles. Mr. Reedy was the only one I dreaded.

PHOTOS DU JOUR
South Joisy, 1986 looking out my front door.
2ft of snow fell over night. Paralyzed the town.
Shoveled snow for our neighbor, Dottie the
Hottie, and was rewarded nicely ;-)

MMMM, now I have to go get me some Taco Bell since you got me craving "beaner food" with the pics of enchiladas.

Naughty you, twenty-one swats in one year!!! I only remember getting a swat in the first grade. My siblings ditched school and made me stay home with them so I would be guilty too and not snitch. ;) Well we got caught and swats for all administered by the school.

I'm not quite sure where you went with the song joker? I know it made me feel like I was sniffing Rush (aka lockerrom).

Have a great weekend!!!

Swats? Yeah, those are a thing of the past in the educational system. Damn it all to hell.

South Joisy? You're kidding me. That's where I grew up and spent 30 years of my life.

Nay: Did ya get you any Beaner food? Close with regard to the song….was thinking of something a little more hallucinogenic than Rush though ;-)

Jules: I agree…a little corporal punishment, properly meted out, never hurt anyone!

Margie: Not kidding at all. I was stationed down there for four years….Lived in a couple of different locations – Cape M and Sea Isl. City. Where’d you live?

I got swats for being caught on the school grounds after we climbed under the gate. I got back under the gate & away from the security gaurd but my girlfriend was fat and got stuck so I went back for her and faced the music. We laughed so hard while the gaurd was trying to pull her out that she peed all over herself. I got 4 swats for that one but it was worth it.

Carlos said...

WebMiz: I don’t believe that for a second!

Kim: You’re welcome. Hope everything turns out well.

Early: Dude…I’d take four swats right fucking now to go back in time and watch that whole cluster fuck unfold! LMAO!

hey, I'm gonna try the carnitas rojas! You didn't need to show the pic....I was salivating at the THOUGHT of the finished product! Luckily for us in Indianapolis, we have a Mexican population larger than the African-American population, and authentic Mexican restaurants are EVERYWHERE! Do I love it? You bet I do! Sure, I occasionally crave fake mexi-food from TB, but I'd rather go to El Puerto or El Sol (two of the Mexican restaurants) for the REAL thing.

I vote this the tasties post I've seen in a long time...pass the refried beens, please :)

You should put in some recipes

South Joisey? And you're Hispanic? Sheet, my sister taught in Vineland--they thought she was Italian. When she turned out to be Jewish, didn't exactly have an easy time

Little Sis: Sorry about tantalizing you with the pictures ;-) The only spices I used in the carnitas were salt, pepper, and cumin. Also added a couple of cloves of garlic after the meat started to brown/crisp, as well as some onion. The red sauce is nothing more than boiled New Mexico red chiles, garlic, and a little salt blended. Take the stems and most of the seeds out of the chiles before boiling/blending. You’re lucky to have good Mexican restaurants where you are. I was stationed places on the East Coast where I couldn’t find shit…it was even hard to find groceries to make good homemade Mexican food. Oh, and let the record show….I love Taco Bell crispy tacos and enchiritos!

Pia: Yep…South Joisy. I’m not from there, but I spent 4 years of my life living there. Even been to Vineland. No one has an easy time if they’re not Italian in Joisy ;-)

Mmmmm, I love me some good beaner food! Do you think you and the warden would adopt me? I come with ready made grandchildren :-)
I saw Babel, and it was ok. I didn't like how much you jumped around from story to story, but I did really like how all the stories tied together in the end. I'm big on endings, so the fact that the movie was just ok, was fine because the ending was great :-)
As for the club scene, I did like how they showed you her perspective also. I won't ruin it for those that haven't see it yet, but you know what I mean :-)

I finally took care of my craving today and went to Taco Bell for the grilled stuft (that is how it was spelt;) burrito. Mmmmmm, the thing is huge and I can't even finish it for around $2.49. I spent less than $5 for a large diet pepsi and my burrito.

Arlene: I have a feeling you’d be a good adoptee Arlene :-) I liked the ending of Babel too. I like movies that don’t follow cookie-cutter story lines, and Babel was one of them. I liked Twelve Monkeys for that reason too, though I haven’t seen it for years.

Nay: Mmmm…I’m jealous! I love Taco Bell!!
