10.0, 10.0, 10.0, 10.0

Imagine my surprise this morning in the bathroom when my cell phone wriggled free of my grip, assumed a grand, Acapulco-cliff-diving-pose, and let go with a beautiful quadruple gainer, with two-and-a-half twists, into the cool, crisp waters of Lake Toileto. It was a beautiful 10.0 dive.

Surprise yes, but with catlike reflexes, and all the speed of a king cobra strike, I snapped up my phone from the clear (read unoccupied other than by water) water just as quickly as it had found its way there. I flipped it open and, behold! There was still power. Knowing that water and electricity don’t necessarily go well together, I immediately removed the battery and commenced blotting and tapping the water out of it.

For some reason, I figured tapping and blotting were sufficient so I reattached the battery and powered it on. It didn’t’ work. It simply went into a boot loop. I powered it off immediately.

So I put it under a heat lamp and got on the internet. After reading a couple of sites, I took it out from under the heat lamp and got The Warden’s blow dryer.

Mr. Phone the high-diver has been sitting on the counter in my bathroom for the past 20 minutes digging on the warm air.

Hopefully it’ll be working in a day or so. The only thing I gots goin' fer me is that it was under water for 1, maybe 2 seconds.

It'll work ok once it dries out. Same thing happened to a friend of mine.

Next time you have a "shitty" phone call you'll have at least one other way to interpret it, right?

Awww, my foster daughter D. dropped my phone in the toilet, it didn't survive, she also that same weekend left my purse on the floor while I was napping to wake up and find my pooch AnnE had devoured my bottle of Xanax so I had to take her to the vet. That was one expensive weekend since it was also Thanksgiving weekend that I had ventured out to do her Christmas shopping.

I hope your phone is up and running by tomorrow since I was going to call you ;)

Nigel: Nice. ;-)

Nay: Wow. What a weekend! That sucks. I'd have been supremely stressed I I think ;-)

Wow! you have been posting away, good job! I never dropped my phone in the toilet but we did lose it in the snow a few years ago and it still worked.

If you submerse your phone again, bury it in some dry, white rice for a day. The rice will suck the moisture right out of it! (But don't try to reuse the rice).
