Riddle Me This

What are these two words? This isn’t a quiz because I don’t know the answer. The text is from one of a good number of old (and I mean old; like 1790 old) family letters I’ve been transcribing. Here are the two words followed by the sentence from which they were extracted.

I rode half a mile__ the other day without any __illion.

That's a "d" at the end of the first mystery word.

The second mystery word is __illion.

++++++++++

And here’s the entire transcribed text of the letter. It’s really quite eloquent. I like how the author speaks of herself and the recipient in the third person.

++++++++++

Those of you who’ve seen that lame TV show Blind Date will love this video. Whoever did this video is ill...just plain ill.

If profanity offends you, don’t view it.

How cool that you are transcribing old family letters. I think that would be interesting.

To me, the first word is just "miled" - different grammar back then. It looks as if she was running low on the ink when she made the "e" and dipped her pen in ink again and just missed her original curve of the "e". The beginning of the "d" on the end is darker too which also suggests fresh ink.

The second word I have no clue about. I searched some Early English online dictionaries and found nothing. Maybe it is slang for not having any trouble on her ride or maybe she misspelled hellion which was used in a different manner back then. So there is my input!

Great post!

Maybe Propetia and her date came up with the drummer thing together. Cuz I'm thinking "why?" as well.

OK, enough with the space background. I see spots and lines for longer than I care to admit after reading your blog lol. I would be good with this if I had been drinking, but because I haven't been I'm afraid ... very afraid.

Karlos-
You know you can always join in the fun. Michael's girlfriend might be available soon for a threesome. ~snicker~

Margie: It is a tough one isn’t it?! I’m not sure I’ll ever figure this one out!

Gator: That blind date video was hilarious. Wonder if she was a real crack ho!

Sheila: I’m really enjoying it a great deal. I’m also documenting my family’s genealogy. It’s very time consuming, but fun. I’m really enjoying it. Great observations on the letter.

Nay: That’s cuz you’re getting’ slow in your years!

Jules: We’ll never know the answer!

Y: You sure Tweaker hasn’t just been spiking your water supply? ;-)

WebMiz: Glad you enjoyed the humor as much as I did!

Jules: Is Michael the guy you just met or someone you’ve known?
