Have you heard about the Lobbying Reform Bill? Bunny sent me an email with a few links in it. I haven’t done any deep digging yet, but the bill is supposed to control, not only traditional lobbying (think Abramoff), but also “grass roots activities,” which some are interpreting to mean blogging. I haven’t looked at it yet, but thought it worthy of mention here. Here are a few links.

This link says, in part: “"Section 220 of S. 1, the lobbying reform bill currently before the Senate, would require grassroots causes, even bloggers, who communicate to 500 or more members of the public on policy matters, to register and report quarterly to Congress the same as the big K Street lobbyists.”

How are they going to determine if we communicate to 500 or more members of the public on policy maters? Are we all going to have to have government site counters on our blogs? Sheesh. I could go on and on about this, but I ain’t gots the time right now.

I'll have to read that. Sounds like our politicians are afraid of us mere little bloggers. I wonder, what about Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert? Jay Leno and others who joke about the political scene? Just wondering because I plan to do the same. I hate 'em all.
