Three Word Wednesday

Get your words here.
The rules are there too.

Here’s my entry for today:

The state of being lost takes on a whole new meaning when you find yourself in such a state in the middle of the ocean.

You’re on a raft with nothing more to subsist on than rainwater, hapless seabirds that drop by for a rest, and the tiny fishes you scoop up as they leap from the waves, trading a familiar predator for new one.

After 22 days, you’re weak, dehydrated, and blistered with sun and saltwater lesions. The hard foam edges of the raft are lined with tiny bones and stained with blood, baked and cured by the Caribbean sun; the same blood you used in a vain attempt to protect your fragile, human skin from the dreadful yellow sun.

The sun dips beneath the Western horizon as life ebbs from your weather-ravaged body. Now only the birds remain; and the lapping of the waves against the raft.

And the dreadful yellow sun...
